Just like apples, red like apples and delicious to eat just like apples. Liaquat Bepari, a young expatriate from Belgium in Shivchar, is seeing the face of success by planting a very sweet Kashmiri Nurani apple orchard. After watching a report on agriculture on YouTube, he decided to plant a Kashmiri Nurani apple orchard in Belgium. After 10 months of planting the seedlings have started to bear fruit. The attendants said that more success could have been achieved with the help of the Upazila Agriculture Officer. However, the agriculture officer assured the full cooperation of such entrepreneurs.
Orchard of Liaquat Bepari in North Banshkandi village of Shibchar in Madaripur. He has planted apple cool and malt saplings in 4 bighas of land at a cost of around Tk 9 lakh. The seedlings mature 10 months after planting. Kashmiri Nurani is holding apples in bunches in the trees. Each tree holds about 15 to 20 kg of apple cool. However, Liaquat claimed that the garden was damaged due to the violence of Gail Bulbul. If there was no natural calamity, about 50 kg of fruit could be obtained from this apple tree. Besides, once the trees mature, they can bear fruit for up to 10 years. It has also started selling at a wholesale price of Rs 60 per kg. The demand of buyers has also increased. There are 7-8 people in this garden day and night.
Looking like an apple, this fruit is very sweet, like an apple to eat and delicious. Besides, Liaquat Bepari is hoping for success by planting malt in the same garden. “Now I have started selling fruits,” he said. However, the garden owner Liakat Bepari and the caretakers complained that the Upazila Agriculture Extension Office and the concerned officials did not get much cooperation in this initiative.
Shibchar Upazila Agriculture Officer Anup Roy said the new variety of Kashmiri Nurani apple has been planted in Shibchar with initial success. The Upazila Agriculture Office will extend all possible cooperation to the farmers for planting and cultivating these fruits.
